The desktop app now counts which screens open and which actions run, with Google Analytics, to make it better. A count never carries a file path, a file name or your email. Settings › Privacy and the Privacy Policy explain it; the command line still counts nothing.
5.3.2 · 2026-11-02macleanup 5.3.2: choose release emails in the appThe Account screen adds an Emails switch for release news and optional updates, sent to your Google address. Receipts, invites and important product updates arrive either way. The download page has the same sign-up, confirmed by email first.
5.3.1 · 2026-11-02macleanup 5.3.1: accept a team invite in the appThe desktop app now shows a team invitation sent to your account’s email on the Team screen, with Accept. Buttons in macleanup emails open the download page, and long values in an email wrap on a phone.
5.3.0 · 2026-10-30macleanup 5.3.0: an assistant, receipt backups and required updatesThe desktop app adds an assistant that explains a preview, typed or spoken, and sees section numbers and sizes, never file paths. Pro and Team can back up receipt summaries and restore them on another Mac. Required-update notices arrive, automatic updates relaunch at a quiet moment, and a first preview no longer asks for media-library access.
5.2.2 · 2026-10-30macleanup 5.2.2: keep means keep, a faster large-file scanPaths you keep are now left alone by every section, the large-file report skips photo libraries and iCloud folders and finishes in seconds, and scheduled runs in the desktop app now report back with a receipt.
5.2.0 · 2026-10-30macleanup 5.2.0: the desktop appThe macleanup app for macOS runs the same script in a window, with a disk gauge, a dry-run ledger and a receipt for every run. One disk image for Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Section 0 also lists your developer toolchains and their sizes.
5.1.0 · 2026-10-30macleanup 5.1.0: an event stream, keep and archive paths--json-events streams each run as one JSON event per line. --archive-path writes a private archive before a path is removed, and --exclude-path now protects a path in every section. Section 12 lists recently touched orphan candidates for review, and section 25 checks both launchd domains.
5.0.0 · 2026-10-29macleanup 5.0.0: one nameThe command, script, data folder and config file now share one name, macleanup. The first 5.x run copies earlier logs and reports into ~/.macleanup/ and leaves the originals in place.
